The wedding is on Saturday.
As far as I can tell, I haven’t lost any weight at all in the past two weeks. Of course, I have 6 days left, and I am sure that if I did some juice-regime, or just ate boiled chicken for three days and stuck to the strictest form of the Ducan diet, I’d drop a couple of kilos. But I don’t like extreme (or insane…) measures. If I haven’t lost weight until my friend’s wedding, it’s because I haven’t been to the gym in two weeks, and I won’t compensate that by putting my body under some unnecessary duress for the sake of a handful of photographs.

I have a dress, and I wore it at the spring formal last year when I weighed an additional 2 kilos, so I don’t need to worry about fitting into it. Though I would have preferred looking better while in it, I still think I look pretty cute, and the green really suites me.
More troublesome is the fact that my dress is too long, I don’t have any suitable shoes and I’ve yet to write a speech. All on this weeks to-do list.

It’s raining outside, and I’ve decided to stay a couple of hours at C’s and read some scripts for work while he plays his new computer game. I still need to find a real job, yesterday, but I did manage to land some freelancing opportunities for my former place of internship, and I really liked the work I did there and the people I worked with.
I have slight headache due to the weather, and if I hadn’t had things to do I would just have stayed in bed most of today. Maybe I can convince C to make me some lunch…

I decided that it’s a shame not to pin down last weeks meals, even if it wasn’t a full seven days worth. What I did write down is supposed to help my upcoming plans after all, so it’s good to stick with it as much as I can.

I did good last week. I exercised, ate well, and as a result of a sudden strange turn of events, weighed only 65,1kg on Wednesday! 65,1kg, holy Hell. Apart from a one-day stint just before flying off to Madrid for the new year celebrations, when that was also my exact weight, I probably haven’t hit that number on a scale since April 2010. Felt great. Though that should no longer be the case as I ate so much during the weekend (but did go for walks, and took a small crash-course in archery!), and since I am sick and bed-ridden at the moment. We’ll see when I get back to the gym, and if I make it to 64kg by the end of the month =)

I’m continuing to take notes on my food intake, and hopefully I will be giving a fairly accurate portrait of what I eat for the rest of the month. Food and drinks are noted (with the exception of water units), so is exercise, and my current weight at the end of the week.

Since last week could pretty much be summed up with sugar, ramen, eggs and salmon, I did try to make a bit of an effort this week. Hopefully, I will have the time to look into more Ducan Diet – recommended meals. As it is a diet with some restrictions, it isn’t the easiest thing to get into the routine, and I probably never will. But there are apparently a lot of people out there (thank you Internet) who are trying to combine the diet with more interesting and varied cuisine. This apparently even leads to various sorts of bread and cake that are still Ducan- acceptable . A friend of mine served me Cheesecake after a Ducan-recepie yesterday. No added sugar, made out of lemon-flavoured quark mixed with cottage cheese and a bit of cream cheese (all low-fat), with the crust made out of oat and wheat bran, with some added cinnamon. It wasn’t a Not as tasty as the real deal, but a good alternative, and i will look into making one myself soon.
Yesterdays dinner also got me realizing that cottage cheese is perfectly edible, which is great. I used to really dislike the texture, but now it’s no longer a problem apparently. And since it’s such a good protein source, it’ll surely make frequent appearances in my diet from here on out.

Anyway, the list goes:

2 cups of black tea
100g grilled salmon, handful potato wedges

Managed morning yoga today! Faced the rain and the greyness and it felt really good. I feel almost smugly self-satisfied with myself.
The instructor on Saturday mornings focuses more on strength than flexibility and meditative yoga, and that’s what I actually prefer. Unfortunately, I seldom have the drive to get out of bed before 8AM on weekends just to head to the gym, so I of course usually miss out on this. According to my notes on Noom, prior to today, I’ve actually only joined the morning class twice for the past six months, once in February and once in December.
It would be foolish to make promises, even to myself, that I can’t stick to, but I really would like to get in more Saturday-classes before the gym cuts down on them when arranging the summer schedule. It should be a seriously considered goal.

Afterwards had coffee with I. and visited The English Bookshop just to check out the new Terry Pratchett paperback Snuff, and the children’s book A World of Poo (the man is brilliant and hilarious and I need to buy at least one more Discworld-book soon soon soon). Had a short chat with the clerk, who told me she was glad to have had such a nice customer early in the day, and I felt very happy that she said so. Day’s started out so good, can’t there also be sunshine?

Got up before 7am today and hit the pool with a friend by 7:35. First visit in weeks, somehow that always seems to be the case.

Initial reaction was that it was freezing and I wanted to go home and back to bed. But there was almost no one there, and it felt so lovely with the sun shining in (one wall is all glass, giving the gym a great view over the town cathedral and the trees down by the creek), and it just turned perfect. I said, that it felt so much more motivating to swim with the view as backdrop, compared to when we first decided to o swimming in February and it was pitch-black outside. Couldn’t agree more.

Swam for about 50 minutes, showered, sat some in the sauna and headed home. It’s strange that the entire thing, from the moment I step out to when I return, takes all of 2 hours 45 minutes. That’s probably one of the main reasons I don’t get to the pool more often, the entire process is ridiculously time-consuming.
Anyway, the sauna always turns me a bit limp, like I’m suddenly boneless. Takes me a while to get the energy back up after that, but I’ve had some tea now and I am ready to get shit done.

Have started registering my food intake on paper again. Of course, to some degree I try to keep track by using Noom, but it mostly registers calories and by the end of a week I usually forget where those calories came from. So, I thought it would be nice at the end of the week to look through what I actually documented (so I do this now and then), and post it here as an official reality-check (I haven’t posted a food list since Måndagsbarn).
This time I haven’t done much effort during the week to keep from snacking, but I am trying to eat more protein rich food. Too keep in mind, payday was this week so I have admitting been trying to keep food-costs down by eating cheap cup-ramen (especially since I am ridiculously poor at the moment), and as always my diet seems to lean heavily on the fact that I eat loads of eggs, and drink massive amounts of tea (every time I register a cup of tea, that probably means about 0,5liters, unlike coffee which is probably about 1,5dl). I don’t register water units.

1 serving beef flavoured instant ramen, 1 cup of black tea
1 cup of black tea with honey
1/3 of a baguette, digestive crackers, 100g brie cheese, honey
1 cup of black tea

Apparently, last week, all I ate was salmon, eggs, instant ramen and sugary snacks, while washing it down with tea. Not the best way to go about this. Current weight is 66,7kg. I’m attending a wedding in four weeks. Perhaps I should try to reach 64kg by then? It would be nice to start off summer with weighing less than 65kg for the first time in over two years.

Oven-grilled half a kilo salmon today which turned out great, yet still ate trail mix for dinner. Wtf? It’s like I don’t even want to get this right.

Out of the past six weeks, I’ve had people staying with me for over three of them. My siblings, my friends. It’s been great, yet adapting back to normal life is quite the mission on its own. Especially since many of my friends visited simultaneously to celebrate Valborg. It’s an old Swedish tradition, probably partially heathen, from when you would celebrate light and spring with great bonfires at the end of April. These days, it’s all bonfires and BBQ, except in areas vastly populated by students, where it’s just days of pick-nicks and drinking and partying. As this years Valborg fell on a Monday, the entire weekend before was spent in a crazy haze. It was sunny and warm, we drank a lot, laughed a lot, danced and danced and danced. I made an effort not to eat unhealthily, but of course added quite an amount of booze and wine to my usual diet. At least the dancing was good for me.
Anyway, when everyone left, I basically felt happy, exhausted, sad, relieved at some alone-time and lonely, all at the same time. Also, admitting, I felt a bit bloated.

I am doing well though, had a week of exercising at the gym (got one of the instructors to show me the ropes) and eating mixed but nutritious foods and I feel fine. Or at least, I felt fine until I went on my first meeting of the year as the new Chairman of the board of our small home owners association, and it took three and a half hours. Afterwards, I felt drained, stressed and annoyed, since I had missed out on dinner, and instead just eaten some of the cake, as sweets are always present at the board meetings. So in other words: as always, I am doing well up until the point when I am not. Big surprise there.

April, like always, is like watching the weather forecast be controlled by the mood swings of a temperamental teen with split personality disorder. In the same day we go from snow to sun to rain, and I feel less inclined to actually be outdoors than even when it was permanently cold. I never was much for April in Sweden.

On the off-chance that the weather is tolerable, I try going out for walks. Feel better all in all, think the vitamin D-supplements and the longer days are having their clear effect. Feel more upbeat and less exhausted, and as long as I can stay away from sugar, I’ll do fine.
Food wise, I’ve been doing well this week. But yesterday, we had a small Incognito get-together at my place (Incognito being my friend Jano’s hobby/project, where we dress-up as computer game characters in outfits she makes, and are photographed in places that resonate with the original game-environment. It’s so much fun, and I get to play dress-up every couple of months), and as per usual, there was muffins and cake and pizza. We were only half the group, working on some back story pics for our 20’s photo shoot, so there wasn’t much to do, and it felt like we mostly ate. I went into a sudden sugar-coma in the car later, and with the false-lashes weighing down my lids, I couldn’t keep my eyes open for what felt like hours. Totally worth it, though my stomach might disagree.

Anyways, as I mentioned last week, I updated my Noom-values and plans (third times a charm they say, maybe I should give that 200-sit up challenge its third chance as well?) and I’m at it since. At my weekly weigh-in on Sunday, I was down to 66,3kg. Getting somewhere, Hells yeah.

I haven’t written in a while, mostly because I haven’t done anything worth noting that would be of interest on this blog. I barely work out, don’t stick to my diet, and I’ve been very busy with school/work/life.

But today I finally updated Noom on the facts I’ve been dreading to record, and I have gained 2,5kg in 3,5 months, instead of the other way around. So now that spring is coming (…kind of. It snowed yesterday, like the worst April Fool’s joke, or a giant F U from the Swedish weather gods), I feel better and more energetic. Gonna try to get back on that horse, get my ass in gear, you know, all that jazz =)

Had my brother visiting last week, and we went for some walks. Also, went back to yoga yesterday. My balance is off, and I’m not really feeling it since the instructor is so slow in movements and talks all the time, but at least I’m there. There’s been no swimming whatsoever, cause I got a tattoo done on through two different sessions, and had to wait for it to heal up nice and well. So first visit back to the pool will be tomorrow or Wednesday, if nothing unforseen decides to happen.

I am not going home to the parent’s for Easter (already went for Persian New Year and had my fill of Holiday sweets and cuisine) and most of my friends are out-of-town. Deliberately decided to be antisocial so I can get my studying done, and perhaps avoid the un-godly amount of “let’s mourn the death of the son of God by stuffing our faces”-chocolate that circulates as per tradition. It’s a good thing I’m not religious, I would be praying in Easter egg candy all day long…
